On 11-13 of January 2017 seniors freestyle and Greco-roman Azerbaijan championships will be held in Baku Sport Palace.

According to Sportfm.az, at the competitions organizing by Ministry of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan Republic together with Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation will be able to attend sportsmen age of 18, 1998 year of birth and older. At the competition carrying individual character will compete sportsmen representing sport societies, sport clubs, sport organizations and wrestlers, members of city and regions teams.  

Competitions to be held in accordance with rules of United World Wrestling will served by referees appointed by Referees Board of Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation. Freestyle wrestlers will compete in 57, 61, 65, 70, 74, 86, 97 and 125 and Greco-roman athletes in 59, 66, 71, 75, 80, 85, 98 and 130 kg weighting categories. 

According to the program of the championship in the first day of freestyle wrestlers competitions will be determined winners in 57, 61, 65, 70 and 74  kg weighting categories. On January 12 will perform freestyle wrestlers in 86, 97 and 125 kg and Greco-roman wrestlers in 59, 66 and 71 kg weighting categories. And in the last day of the championships will compete Greco-roman sportsmen in 75, 80, 85, 98 and 130 kg weighting categories.

Sportsmen gaining first three places will be presented by AWF appropriate diplomas, medals and money award. The same wrestlers will be called up to the squad of the national teams and will get an opportunity to represent our country in the team taking part at the international competitions during a year.
